DIRECTOR: FRED BARNEY TAYLOR
Q&A with Samuel R. Delany and Fred Barney Taylor following the 6pm screening on Friday, 5/17.
An appropriately unorthodox documentary portrait of an out-of-the-box thinker, Taylor’s film gives us in all complexity and contradictions that define the figure of Samuel R. Delany, the Hugo and Nebula award-winning science fiction visionary and cult novelist, as he holds court on his youth in Harlem, his coming to terms with his sexual identity, the topic of race in America, and an infinity of other subjects besides. Featuring appearances by fellow writers and admirers Walter Mosley and Jonathan Lethem and a bevy of bold visual experiments, for a film every bit as unique and innovative as the remarkable man that it documents.
Screening in the series Delanymania.
