CAST: JOHN PHILIP LAW

The second of Columbia Pictures’s Sinbad series, a sequel to its 1958 predecessor only in name and in the presence of Ray Harryhausen, using his Dynamation stop-motion process to bring storybook illustrations to life. Among the miracles performed here are the summoning up of one-eyed centaurs, ghoulish gargoyles, and one of Harryhausen’s most maddeningly complicated feats, a six-armed animate idol swinging six swords at the same time, all of which keeps Barbarella star John Philip Law busy in the title role. A robust adventure, taking advantage of the stunning scenic possibilities of rugged Majorca and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina.
