DIRECTOR: LéOS CARAX
CAST: CATHERINE DENEUVE, GUILLAUME DEPARDIEU, YEKATERINA GOLUBEVA
Screening introduced by Sandi Tan on Saturday, October 12.
Turning an early creative disappointment into a mature triumph with her diaristic autobiographical documentary Shirkers, revisiting both the materials of an unfinished independent film she’d begun shooting while a teenager in Singapore in the early ‘90s and the circumstances of the film’s incompletion, Tan scored one of last year’s unequivocal successes in nonfiction filmmaking, embraced by Metrograph audiences and many others. Now Tan returns to present a film by Leos Carax exemplifying amour fou anguish and the lassitude of aimless youth.
